FoodLife

Your purchase contributes financially towards our FoodLife programme.

Our hope for this new and exciting social enterprise is that any profits from sales will contribute directly towards the costs of our Restore Hope FoodLife programme. FoodLife delivers fresh fruit and vegetable boxes to local families who are experiencing serious financial, relational and health challenges. So far, we have already purchased over 70,000 portions and have delivered these totally free of charge to the homes of 100’s of families who have been severely impacted by the pandemic. The wonderful generosity of our supporters has enabled all of this but with more and more families needing practical food help and our costs rising week on week. Your purchase of a Chess Valley Farm Shop box will help other families receive the food support that they desperately need. We also hope to be able to provide people with work experience and employment opportunities as part of the social enterprise.

F.A.Q’s

Chess Valley Farm Shop

Q: What’s the connection between Restore Hope and the Chess Valley Farm Shop

A: Chess Valley Farm Shop was started by Restore Hope as a social enterprise project to provide work experience, training and future employment opportunities for the families who we support as a charity.  Our hope is also that the Chess Valley Farm Shop will contribute financially to help fund our FoodLife fresh fruit and vegetable boxes (that we provide free of charge to support local families who facing really tough circumstances) and other key hope programmes that we offer.

Q: How long have you been doing this for?

A: We have been sourcing, packing and delivering fresh food since May 2020 and have already delivered over 70,000 portions as part of our FoodLife programme. The Chess Valley Farm Shop boxes are part of a pilot program launched in Feb 2021 so we are at the very start of our journey on this and are excited to have you join us.

Q: Why should I purchase from you?

A: Your purchase will not only provide you with great quality fresh fruit and veg but it will also contribute towards a vulnerable family being able to receive a similar box of food. It will also contribute towards creating opportunities for these same families to receive training and equipping  them through our social enterprise

Q: You mention that this is a pilot programme. What does this mean?

A: We started these Chess Valley Farm Shop Boxes as a pilot in Feb and plan to run this until the end of April 2021. Of course, we would love to carry on beyond this into the future and expand the Chess Valley Farm Shop. During the pilot we would like to get as much feedback as possible and we would love to hear from you with any feedback. You can contact us at farmshop@restorehopelatimer.org

Q: Do you have a physical shop I can come and visit?

A: No, not yet! But we are looking at options for the future! For now we will be delivering our food boxes to your home or offering them on collection basis from our Estate Office. This is for those who have ordered and prepaid on our website.

Q: What other products do you have available?

A: We have a range of Chess Valley Farm Shop chutneys and jams and well as firewood and kindling. In season we will also have juices and we hope to expand our range as we grow with our own free range eggs and other products.

Ordering

Q: How do I order a box?

A: Please head to our online store and find your preferred item and add to your cart, then proceed to the checkout and fill out your details and pay.

Q: How will I know my order has been confirmed?

A: You will receive an email from farmshop@restorehopelatimer.org confirming your order straight away. Please check your junk folder to ensure it hasn’t disappeared there.

Q: Can I just order one box as a trial?

A: Yes, please just head to our website and purchase a box of your choosing.

Q: If I want to subscribe for a box every week how do I do that?

A: For now, please order your box each week as we don’t have a weekly subscription available during the pilot phase.

Q: Is there an order deadline?

A: Yes. All boxes must be ordered by 10pm on Sunday to be delivered/collected on the following Wednesday afternoon. Any orders received after the Sunday 10pm will not be available on the coming Wednesday and will roll over to the second Wednesday.

Q: Can I order this as a gift for someone I know?

A: Of course, please just put their address down for delivery and leave a note letting us know.

Q: Why is availability limited on your website?

A: As this is a pilot programme, we are fixing the numbers so that we can ensure we give the best possible service and get feedback to develop our offering for the long term.

Q: If something I want is sold out, will it become available again?

A: Yes. It will become available again as soon as we are back in stock.

Q: How do I cancel an order if I need to?

A: As we source the food directly based upon your order, we obviously need to keep cancellations as low as possible. If you do need to cancel an order this can be done up until Sunday at 10pm and we will arrange a refund for you. Please do this in writing via an email to farmshop@restorehopelatimer.org Unfortunately, we cannot cancel or refund orders after 10pm on a Sunday before delivery/collection date as we will already have purchased the food and cannot offer for resale to anyone else. Thanks for your understanding with this.

Payment Process

Q: Is there a minimum order amount?

A: No there isn’t a minimum order amount but we would recommend purchasing a box.

Q: How do I pay for my order?

A: All orders should be made on our website and you can pay for it when you have finished adding the products you would like to your cart.

Q: Do I have to have a paypal account?

A: No, when you go through to paypal there will be an option to ‘continue as guest’ although, we recommend setting up an account (its free) and it enables you to order from us again in the future with ease.

Q: Can I pay with cash?

A: Sorry, this is not currently possible but this may be an option as we expand.

Supporting families facing tough circumstances

Q: How does my purchase help disadvantaged families?

A: Any profits from selling our products directly contributes into our FoodLife project which enables us to donate fresh fruit and vegetables to support families. Your purchase of a Chess Valley Farm Shop Box will help enable the longevity of the project. We also hope to be able to provide people with work experience and employment opportunities as part of the social enterprise.

Q: What is your FoodLife hope programme?

A: FoodLife started as a way to support families who had been impacted financially by the Covid-19 pandemic. We have done this by providing three types of boxes;

  1. A Dinner Is Served box which is an emergency pre-cooked frozen meal for families
  2. An emergency 3-4 Day Dry Food Boxes through Foodbank
  3. A Fresh Food box with fresh fruit & vegetables

Our focus now is on providing the Fresh Food Boxes. These are delivered to the doorstep by one of our lovely volunteers and will always include a hope-filled, positive and personal conversation as well as the opportunity to pray. This provides support and connection much deeper than just a delivery of fresh fruit and veg. Our delivery drivers will submit feedback of the conversation and our family support team then pick up any family that needs following up with. This means that every family who we work with is getting physical, practical and emotional support.

Q: Are there other ways I can support your work?

A: Yes, that would be amazing! You can support us by donating on our website (www.restorehopelatimer.org/donate) or by volunteering with us here at Restore Hope. We would love to hear from you at volunteer@restorehopelatimer.org

Other

All of our staff and volunteers wear masks and gloves while packing and delivering, social distancing is enforced onsite and our drivers have been trained and instructed to keep their distance at doorsteps as well. We maintain a track and trace on site and clean our facilities regularly.

Q: Can I Gift Aid my purchase?

A: That would be amazing. Please e-mail us at farmshop@restorehopelatimer.org
