The Discovery Learning Programme
for schools

Our beautiful 360 acre site in the Chess Valley includes meadows, woodland, ponds, rivers, lakes, barns and other buildings which provide endless opportunities to inspire and engage children and young people. With so much to explore, our Discovery Learning Programme provides a unique opportunity for schools to augment their curriculum while developing the life skills and wellbeing of their students, and is comprised of our School of Discovery, Discovery Days and Discovery Time.

This long term partnership programme offers a full PSHE curriculum, curriculum-linked outdoor learning programme, or combination of both. We work closely with schools to provide a bespoke, flexible learning opportunity for up to 60 children per session. The programme encourages children to build self esteem and wellbeing through a range of activities designed to develop skills for life. Whether visits are arranged weekly, fortnightly or half-termly, we will work with you to create a programme designed to promote resilience and positive learning behaviours, alongside school staff who can provide consistency and reinforcement in the classroom.

This provides opportunities for social learning to develop confidence and positive relationships. Small groups of up to 12 children spend time, primarily in our woodland and fields, engaged in activities that gently challenge and encourage conversation about themselves, their relationships and the world around them.

DISCOVERY DAYS offer a day of outdoor learning activities to support the curriculum, build teamwork, communication, resilience and leadership skills. They could be included as part of a topic, spirituality or enrichment week or even to reward your students with a fun-filled day! Our desire in running Discovery Days is to give children a memorable, inspiring and fun day, for them to know how valuable they are and offer teachers a chance to see aspects of their children that might not come to the fore in the classroom. Choose from a varied range of activities, or we can work with you to plan a themed day based on a topic area.

Activities are tailored to the age of the children and can include habitat work in the woods, investigating life in the river, team challenges or craft and a time to reflect.

Play time, story time, DISCOVERY TIME!

We believe that play is serious learning and child led learning through play is a key element of Discovery Time sessions. Your Early Years children will love exploring our site in activities that contribute towards early learning goals, based around familiar stories or your own theme. Sessions vary from 1.5 hours for younger children to a full day for older reception aged classes. Ignite their curiosity in the world around them as they enjoy meeting challenges while they investigate and try new experiences.

Restore Hope offers such a beautiful space, with dedicated and thoughtful staff. Both teachers and children benefit from their experience.

Each activity was planned suitably for my class, always accessible yet challenging, safe with an element of risk ... learning is memorable for all.
